Put simply, it's the process of building 2 dimensional pictures out of wool.

Some people assume when they hear the term felting that it is a needle craft like sewing or embroidery. In actual fact though, it uses an entirely different type of needle and by stabbing your specialised felting needle into your wool, the fibres felt together. In 2d felting, you felt your fibres onto a base material and by felting the different shades together, you can build up your chosen picture.
Using different coloured wools or other fibres, you can begin to create what looks like a painting. You can create anything from abstract art through to realistic portraits- the only limit is your creativity!
